The Annual John Bloomfield Memorial Lectures

The 4th Annual John Bloomfield Memorial Lecture was due to be held on 26 September 2020. Rick Lewis was scheduled to give a talk on timber-framed buildings. However, like other planned fundraising events in 2020 it had to be postponed/ cancelled due to covid-19 restrictions.

The annual Lecture series in memory of John Bloomfield was inaugurated in 2017 with talks by Roger Kennell on brickwork and Rick Lewis on timber-framed buildings.

On Saturday 29 September 2018 the second John Bloomfield Memorial Lecture "Anglicans on High: The Oxford Movement & Hadleigh" was held in St Mary's Church, Hadleigh. Roy Tricker B.E.M. gave a fascinating talk on the Oxford Movement and the Catholic Revival in the Church of England, including its connection with Hadleigh.

On 28th September 2019 the third John Bloomfield Memorial Lecture was given by Rev Dr David Cornick on "Hadleigh, Suffolk and The Reformation". Dr Cornick is a Fellow and Director of Studies in Theology and Religious Studies at Robinson College Cambridge and recently retired as Director of "Churches Together in England". His topic for the lecture is the effect of The Reformation both nationally and locally.
