How the Friends raise funds for St Mary's Church Hadleigh

Friends of St Mary's Church Hadleigh raise much-needed funds through donations, legacies, fundraising events and book sales. Individuals and businesses become Friends by making donations.

Our main fundraising event is the annual Hidden Gardens of Hadleigh event. This year it will be held on Saturday 3rd June 2023. In 2019 the event raised nearly £3,600 for The Friends of St Mary's. The 2020 edition had to be 'virtual' because of Covid-19 restrictions, so the Gardens sub-committee organised a photography contest covering 77 Hadleigh gardens. It went live on 6th June 2020.

In 2021 the event was moved to September: 35 gardens participated and there was also a photo contest. Over 600 visitors bought programmes and £6,500 was raised for The friends of St Mary's. For 2022 the event moved back to June and raised over £6,000 again.

This year 21 gardens will be on show, including the famous garden at Benton End
