The Friends of St Mary’s Church Hadleigh is the fundraising arm of the St Mary’s Hadleigh Church Trust. We work with but are separate from the St Mary’s Church Hadleigh PCC (Parochial Church Council).
The Friends of St Mary's is open to individuals of all faiths and none, as well as businesses and other organisations interested in preserving the architectural heritage of these beautiful historic buildings
- so that present and future generations can continue to benefit from and enjoy this wonderful heritage
- and to ensure the continued use of the buildings for the spiritual, cultural and educational life of Hadleigh and the surrounding villages
Support from the Friends is fundamental to the survival of St Mary’s Church and Deanery Tower. The Friends recently contributed £69,000 towards essential low-level window repairs, a further £33,700 towards essential work on the vestry roof and South nave parapet and £2,250 on electrical work.
The Friends raise much-needed funds through donations, legacies, events and book sales to be able to help repair and restore these historic buildings.
Hadleigh has the good fortune to have three Grade 1 listed buildings clustered round the churchyard: as well as the medieval guildhall, Historic England lists both St Mary's Church and Deanery Tower |
